Magic Eraser

Hi All,

First of all I would like to thank all my followers, I’ve hit over 113!! It seems my wee blog isn’t doing too badly! Also remember to follow me on redheadbeautyblogs on Facebook and Nataliemcpeak on Instagram.

Anyways on to the Magic Eraser. So my friend recently brought me back the Magic Eraser from Canada and although I have heard all about it, I haven’t had the chance to try it out. For those who know nothing about it takes of makeup using only water. Pretty Amazing!

So I’ve tried it out a few times and although it does work, the feeling of the cloth is so strange. It’s like washing your face with a wet, fluffy blanket. Honestly, if you’ve tried it let me know what you think. However, it somehow magically takes your makeup off without even trying. Now it doesn’t take off the eye area as well but I feel if you use wipes or are super tired and can’t be bothered taking your make up off then this would be a great alternative.

Italy OOTD

Hi All,

I recently spend a lovely week touring around Northern Italy, visiting Milan, Venice and Lake Garda. All such beautiful places, definitely worth a visit if you’ve never been.

Anyways, my lovely bf took a few ‘OOTD’ snaps whilst there.

Berry Lips

Not exactly a summery colour but none the less, berry seems to still be very much on trend. Currently loving the NYX Soft Matt Lip Cream & NYX Full Throttle Waterproof lipstick 🙂

For the first time I can say I’m happy with my skin.

Fortunately, I have never really suffered from acne or had bad skin, just the occasional break out but I’ve never been exactly happy with it either. Well that’s definitely changed now. I had my first glycolic acid treatment three weeks ago with the brand Skinician and within that first treatment I can honestly say I noticed a difference. Don’t be fooled by the word ACID, it scared me too but I had such great advice from beautician Sarah McKinney owner of Hush Boutique, I came around to the idea of having the treatment done.

So what is a Glycolic acid peel?

Glycolic acid peels are simply a chemical peel that features Glycolic acid as the main component. Glycolic acid is currently a popular treatment for winkles and acne. Part of the alpha hydroxyl family of natural ingredients, Glycolic acid is actually derived from sugar cane and is a fruit acid.

The Treatment

I have had three consecutive sessions for the past few weeks, which is recommended twice a year and is especially good for weddings/special occasions.

The treatment is relaxing and honestly worth the experience in itself. Sarah made me fully at ease and took the time to explain the steps and process of the application. I have also learnt a lot more about my skin from Sarah, especially as I have always thought that I’ve had combination skin, when in fact I have dehydrated skin.

I have listed below Skinician’s pointers on skin types/facts below (worth a read).

Sarah started with a deep double cleanse to remove any makeup and dirt that had been left on the skin. She used the Hydrating and Revitalising skin range from Skinician because of my skin sensitivity. This was then taken off with a hot cloth to open my pores.

After this Sarah applied the Glycolic Face Peel (completely pain free). There is no burning, tingling or any sensation really. For me it felt just like a face scrub. Sarah kept it on for 3mins for the first treatment (which increased with each session) and after this a neutralizer called Advanced Calming Serum was applied to counterbalance the acid product and calm my skin. I was a little worried because I know just how sensitive my skin is especially with new products but I was completely fine.

Sarah also offers this treatment with a massage, head, shoulders, arms & feet. A real treat if anyone is thinking of buying it for friends/family.

Any products that I’ve used in the past have now been binned because of how harsh and abrasive they were on my skin. I previously used a scrub and micellar water to remove my makeup but now I use the Skinician Revitalising Hot cloth Cleanser twice a day and Hydrating Day Moisturiser and Restoring Night Cream alternatively.

The Outcome

The first time I had this done I was amazed at how fresh and radiant my skin looked, clear skin within the first session.

I did break out a couple of times during the first week, but that’s just to be expected especially with everything coming to the surface.

After the second treatment I noticed that my skin pigmentation was evening out, less red and looked a lot healthier. Especially around my t-zone area were I would have a lot of problems. I also felt that my makeup sat better on my skin and I definitely didn’t and don’t need to apply as much now.

After the final treatment I can honestly say I feel much more confident with my skin, confident enough to not wear makeup all the time and know that I am looking after my skin better. It feels amazing and I’m definitely continuing my skin care routine at home because of the results I’m getting. If you haven’t tried this, trust me you are going to want to.

Barry M Gel Nails

If like me you struggle with nail art just remember to keep it simple, shapes and lines are the easiest design to do. I used Barry M’s new coconut infusion nail polishes to create this simple dot pattern. 🙂

Product Review

I usually film these reviews but I decided I would rather write a short review on the products this month than film. 🙂

Micellar Water

The first product that I’ve been trying out is the Nivea Sensitive Caring Micellar Water. Everyone knows how much I rave about Micellar waters and this is one I’ve been wanting to try out. Although in all honesty it didn’t really live up to my expectations. It is a little bit more expensive than other brands like Garnier, L’Oreal etc and so I did have higher expectations. I found the formula washed over my makeup and didn’t fully take it off. Very disappointing.

My rating 2.5/5

Nail Polish

I love switching up my nails polishes to suit the season however I find general nail polishes last no more than a few days, especially with work. So when I came across Barry M’s Gel Hi Shine Nail Paint and Barry M’s New Coconut Infusion Nail Paint I was really impressed. They both last a long time, especially the gel formula and the colour selection for this season is also awesome. 🙂

My rating 5/5

I’m a big fan of Eylure products especially the dye brow kits so I thought I’d give the Eylure Brow Palette a go. Now heres the thing, I use the dark brown dye kit and I find that it suits my brows perfectly considering I’ve red hair. So I chose the dark brown palette rather than blonde and yes it’s slightly to dark. There are three parts to this, a brow wax, powder and highlighter. The powder is fine even if a little too dark, the highlight is spot on but the wax truely is useless and I don’t see much difference when I use it and don’t. Overall it is a little pricey, really a single brown eyeshadow would probably do the job.

My rating 3/5

Finally I’m reviewing a couple of NYX products. I had heard Boots had started to stock the brand in the UK but only in a few of their stores. Luckily there is one right beside my work. I actually love this brand, I don’t think I’ve tried anything from it that I haven’t liked. Everything is highly pigmented from eyeshadow to lipstick. I gave the Full Throttle Water proof lipstick a go and wow! It does exactly what it says on the tube. I also tried Soft Matte Lip Creme, another fantastic product, a dupe to Collection 2000’s lip creme with extra staying power.

But my star buy goes to NYX’s Slide On, Glide On & Definitely A Turn On Waterproof Extreme Shine Eye Liner. This is without a doubt the best eyeliner I’ve tried and that is a big statement. It doesn’t smudge and once its on it’s on.

My rating 5/5***

Spring Fashion

It’s been a crazy whirlwind of a month, and a full month since my last blog post! :O I can only put it down to starting a new job and finding my feet, but really there should be no excuse. I’m still going to aim for at least one post a week! So this weeks is all about bringing your Winter wardrobe into Spring. Yes, I know Spring is nearly over but here in Ireland it’s still freezing 😦 I don’t think we have really had much spring weather at all. Anyways, here are a few of my tips on how to update your wardrobe.

Spring Fashion Tips

  • Layer! It’s still cold out but you want to ditch those big coats, well swap them for a jacket and layer up. That way you look on trend and will still be snug at the same time.
  • Don’t ditch those dark coloured tops, winter colours still work well with spring pastels. Dark burgundy colours work wonders with pale pink pastels and is so on trend.
  • Khaki, pinks, yellows/mustard and denims are so hot right now. Just by pairing these colours together can instantly update your wardrobe.

  • Accessorise! Don’t be afraid to add brightly coloured scarves to your outfit. They will still keep you warm and fashionable at the same time.

  • Get rid of those dark coloured handbags and revamp with pastels/ or lighter colours. An instant facelift to any outfit.

The Beauty Blog Tag

I have been nominated by the lovely, to take part in the Beauty Blog Tag. Make sure to check her site out because it’s pretty awesome! 😀 I’ve never done a blog like this before so I thought I’d give it a go 😀

Rules for this tag:

  • Tag the blogger that nominated you
  • Answer the questions you were given
  • Nominate 10 or so Bloggers whose blog is about beauty fashion or lifestyle
  • Name 10 questions for your nominees to answer
  • Inform the bloggers you nominated

Kristens questions to me:

1. What is your holy grail beauty product?

My holy grail would have to be my Estée Lauder Double wear foundation. It’s my all time favourite foundation because it lasts all day, doesn’t transfer onto clothes and just makes my skin look flawless.

2. What is your holy grail skincare product?

I have harped on about the Vitamin E range from Superdrug so it would have to be the day cream from it. It’s just such a good moisturiser without being greasy.

3. Tv shows that are on your must watch list?

ATM The Killing, How to get away with murder, Bates Motel and I’m such a sucker for the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills 😁

4. What made you want to start blogging about beauty?

I absolutely love makeup and really only got into it in my late teens before that I wasn’t interested at all. I just love to experiment and try new products/trends out. So then I thought with my passion for writing and interest in beauty I’d just put the two together and that’s really how my blog came about.

5. If you could live anywhere where would it be and why?

To be honest I’m not that well travelled, I think I’d like to do a bit more travelling before I decide. But right now I live in N.Ireland and I love living here. I’m close to home, friends and family and that’s what it’s really all about at the end of the day.

6. Name a quote or saying that keeps you motivated and going even on the hardest days.

“Do not worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will worry about itself.” I like this quote because I tend to worry and overthink about practically everything and sometimes I just need to realise that I don’t always have control over tomorrow.

7. If you had to wear one brand of makeup for the rest of your life what would it be?

This is a toughie because all my beauty products are from different brands. But if I had to choose it would be Estée Lauder. It’s just always been one of my go to high end brands, I love their skincare, foundation, mascara, etc.

8. What is your favourite high end beauty/fashion/lifestyle splurge?

I never really spend a lot of money on beauty/lifestyle or fashion.  I tend to opt for bargains and I’m fortunate to receive beautiful gifts from family etc so I guess I don’t have one main splurge.

9. Dinner with one person dead or alive… Who would it be?

It would have to be Dick Van Dyke, random but he’s just such a legend and I’m sure he’d have some yarns to tell me. 😂

10. Do you have a favourite book, movie or song? If so, why is it your favourite?

Its hard to choose just one song or book but I do have an all time favourite movie, infact I have a top three. Number one being Bettlejuice (I practically know it word for word). Two being Hocus Pocus (childhood favourite) and three Death Becomes Her. 😂

So my questions to you all:  Belle’

  1. What is your favourite beauty product and why?
  2. What are your pet peeves?
  3. Favourite fashion trend ATM?
  4. What made you start blogging and why?
  5. Dinner with one person dead or alive…who would it be?
  6. If you had to choose one brand whether it’s beauty or fashion what would it be?
  7. Do you have a favourite movie?
  8. Do you have a quote that keeps you motivated?
  9. If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?
  10. What are your current TV shows?

Spring eyes

Spring is here! Well it might not feel like it just yet but that hasn’t stopped me switching up my makeup. Loving peaches, pinks and golds at the moment and if you have blue eyes they are the best colours to make your eyes pop! 👌😉
